Building Environmental Security In The Border Region Through Binational Cooperation

The border - by its very nature as the intersection of nations, economies, cultures, languages, and customs – has a unique mix of environmental threats and risks. SCERP has for 16 years studied and applied science and technology to monitoring, minimizing, mitigating, and managing those hazards. At the annual meeting of its researchers and policy specialists, SCERP will review accomplishments and make recommendations about:

- Air pollution, distribution, exposure, effects, and mitigation; and particulate matter peaks and hotspots;

- Environmental Information Resources and Geographic Information Systems that can be applied to environmental security efforts; Quality of Life;

- Water pollution, sewage, arsenic, fluoride; and the lining of the All American Canal

- Natural resources restoration, climate change, and ecological assessment.
